
Madhuri Dixit is an acclaimed Indian actress who is known for her performance in the movies 'Beta, Saajan', and 'Hum Aapke Hain Koun ..!' She began her career in the 1980s , and came to popularity with her performance in the film 'Tezaab', where she played alongside veteran actor Anil Kapoor. In the movie 'Dil she played alongside Aamir Khan. She was raised in Mumbai by a middle-class family. At an early age she began learning to dance. She started acting when she was an infant and struggled for a few years since most of her first films ended up being flops. She eventually found success and went on to become one of the top actors within the Indian film industry. Following her wedding she took a short time off from acting before returning to the entertainment business. She was also a key role in the movie 'Gulaab Gang,' which focused on the struggles of Indian women. Dixit was nominated for 15 Filmfare Awards. She won eight. In addition, she was awarded the Padma Shri (the fourth highest civilian award in India). Her social work is another one of the highlights.
